Pastor Tyrone C. Petty was born in the small town of Java, Virginia. He moved to the Washington Metropolitan area with his family in 1969. Rev. Petty is married to the former Karen Richards and they reside in Bowie, Maryland. They also share a son, Terrence Douglas, and their family dog, Kobie.


Pastor Petty attended the Prince George’s County school system. He has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of the District of Columbia, a Master’s of Divinity, from Virginia Union School of Divinity, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Palmer Theological at Eastern University.


Pastor Petty has worked in the areas of Data Entry and Computer Programming. He taught 10 years in the District of Columbia Public School System on the elementary level.


Pastor Petty was licensed to the preaching ministry in 1984. He subsequently served as a youth minister and church administrator at Antioch Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was ordained in 1995 and became Pastoral Assistant to Reverend William Thomas, Jr. at Antioch. In June 2002 he was installed as Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church.

Pastor Petty is a founding member of Alpha Omega Alpha Christian Fellowship Fraternity, Inc. The fraternity trains young energetic Christians for service in the field of discipleship, missions, and evangelism.

Pastor Petty loves working with youth and young adults throughout the Metropolitan area. His joy is found in Psalm 34:8 which says, “O taste and see that the Lord is good. Happy is the man who trusts in Him.”
